Kenneth Cobonpue
Kenneth Cobonpue produces handwoven furniture and lighting for indoor and outdoor environments. Collections are manufactured in Cebu, Philippines, by a team of over 300 artisans using natural and synthetic fibers including rattan, abaca, bamboo, and polyethylene woven onto metal and wood frames. The product range includes seating, sofas, dining, beds, lighting, and accessories.

About Kenneth Cobonpue
Kenneth Cobonpue grew up watching his mother, Betty, invent a new way to work with rattan. In the 1980s, she developed a patented process for laminating fine rattan vines into a fabric-like skin that could be shaped over molds, turning a common basket material into something closer to sculpture. When Cobonpue returned to Cebu in 1996 after studying at Pratt Institute and apprenticing in Florence, he took that foundation and pushed it further, introducing new fibers, new forms, and a design language that treats weaving as both structure and expression. His pieces have furnished Nobu Dubai, appeared on film sets, and been collected by heads of state. In 2014, Maison et Objet named him the first Designer of the Year for Asia. The work remains rooted in Cebu, where every piece is still made by hand.
