In 1945, Robert Brown had an idea that no one was pursuing: outdoor furniture that could be as refined and intentional as anything found in a living room. He pioneered the use of tubular aluminum in leisure furniture, and the company he co-founded in Pasadena went on to furnish the White House Rose Garden, the Hotel Ritz in Paris, and the Smithsonian. Over eight decades and more than 50 design awards later, Brown Jordan remains one of the few outdoor furniture brands whose pieces are actively collected as design objects. Their archives include collaborations with Hall Bradley, Richard Frinier, and Walter Lamb, and the current collections continue to balance mid-century lineage with contemporary proportion and material innovation.
