About Zachary A. Design
Zachary A. Bitner founded his studio in 2009 inside a century-old fiberglass statuary on the south side of Chicago. The workshop, which had spent generations casting decorative sculptures, became the unlikely origin of a furniture line. Bitner adapted the studio's mold-making and casting techniques to produce monolithic forms that carry the visual gravity of poured concrete without the weight or fragility. Each piece is hand-cast from a proprietary blend of stone aggregate, resin, and fiberglass, with integrated drainage for permanent outdoor placement. The brand has since collaborated with larger designers, but the production has never left Chicago, and every piece still passes through the hands of the same small team of artisans who helped develop the process.
