Gloster's roots trace back to West Africa in 1960, where a small group of entrepreneurs and furniture makers set out to build the finest outdoor furniture in the world. By the late 1980s, increasing demand and access to plantation-grown teak led the company to establish its own factory on the island of Java in Indonesia, where it continues to operate today. Gloster uses only Grade-A teak sourced from sustainably managed plantations, selecting each piece for density, oil content, and longevity. Hundreds of skilled artisans work at the Java facility, many of whom have spent their entire careers with the brand. The collections have since expanded to include powder-coated aluminum, ceramic, wicker, and stainless steel, but the design philosophy remains rooted in the same conviction: that outdoor furniture should be built with the same seriousness and care as anything inside the home.
