Sage Outdoor Living is proud to be part of The Firebird family, one of Santa Fe's most enduring retail institutions.

The Firebird was founded in 1977 by Gene Tyson and his wife, opening a 1,600-square-foot showroom on 2nd Street in Santa Fe specializing in wood and gas heating products. Over the following decades, the business steadily expanded and relocated to a larger facility on Espinacitas Street in 1995.

In 2020, The Firebird was acquired by the Rentfrow family, who undertook a full remodel and rebrand of the business. Under their direction, The Firebird launched its Outdoor Living division in 2021, bringing luxury outdoor furniture and living products to its established clientele for the first time. The response was immediate. By 2025, rapid growth in the Outdoor Living category prompted the addition of a dedicated 4,000-square-foot showroom on the Espinacitas Street campus.

Sage Outdoor Living was created from that momentum. As The Firebird's outdoor living expertise deepened, it became clear that the luxury category warranted its own identity: a focused destination for clients seeking the highest level of product, design guidance, and service. Sage is that destination.
