About Tropitone
Tropitone was founded in 1954 by Burt M. Baker, a retired Lockheed Aircraft engineer who bought a small redwood furniture company in Sarasota and turned it into a contract furniture operation serving the hotel and resort industry. The brand spent its first decades furnishing pools, patios, and dining terraces at properties across the country. When guests at those hotels and resorts started asking where they could buy the same furniture for home, Tropitone expanded into the residential market, bringing commercial-grade standards with it. Tropitone applies the same testing protocols, the same material specifications, and the same manufacturing tolerances to a backyard dining set as it does to a 200-unit resort pool deck. With over 70 years in production and two domestic manufacturing facilities, it remains one of the most established names in the American outdoor furniture industry.
